The backbone for the G A R&D business structure is the GARD U-line Technology. It’s the first technology ever developed in the oil and gas industry, or any industry, to deploy any tool you want in a well, and it does not require screws to be put together.
Indeed it is very unique! Not only is G A R&D focusing on reducing emissions to create a cleaner and more sustainable world for all, but G A R&D is also doing the same for companies’ expenditure in the oil and gas industries.

Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Aberdeen, the Capital of Energy in Europe – G A R&D Ltd was established with one clear purpose: to listen deeply to the oil and gas industry, understand its most pressing challenges, and engineer breakthrough solutions that others had not attempted. Over 15 years, this commitment has produced two highly novel, patented global energy technologies that are now commercially deployed across countries.

The company’s first commercialised innovation, the GARD U-line conveyance system, reduced the need for costly well intervention techniques such as coiled tubing and wireline tractors, delivering real cost savings, improved operational reliability, and a significantly reduced environmental footprint. This milestone established G A R&D as a genuine technology pioneer, not an incremental improver, but a creator of entirely new processes in an industry that had seen little change for over 30 years.

Early Experience

Founded in Aberdeen, 2010

G A R&D Ltd was established in Aberdeen, Scotland, the heart of the European energy industry – with a founding ethos to listen to the industry, learn from its challenges, and engineer innovative solutions. The early years were dedicated to deep-dive research and understanding the operational pain points of the oil and gas sector.

Innovation Phase

Inventing the GARD U-line Conveyance System

After years of industry engagement and R&D, G A R&D developed the U-line Roller Technology, the world’s first all-in-one conveyance system capable of safely deploying any wireline tool string in highly deviated wells without the need for grub screws. Compatible with e-line, slickline, fibre-optic, and coiled tubing applications, it sets a new standard in well intervention.

Patented Technologies

Two Global Patents & Commercial Deployment Across Countries

With proven field results and positive industry impact, G A R&D secured intellectual property protection for its two core technologies, the GARD U-line Roller technology and the 3C Turbine and expanded commercially into countries. New entities, GARD U-line Ltd and GARD 3C Ltd, were created to commercialise these innovations.

Future Works & Scaling

Scaling U-line Globally & Bringing 3C Turbines to Market

G A R&D is now accelerating its GARD U-line technology business across new geographies. The 3C technology – based on a novel Compress–Cool–Condense thermodynamic cycle, targets geothermal, solar, SMR, and industrial heat-waste applications, with planned commercial-scale rollout targeting global clean energy demands in the near future.
